Allegations of Being Indian Agents Hurled in Pakistan on Kashmir Day
The anti-state narrative by PDM and accusations of playing in the hands of the enemies will thus affect the objective of the Black Day observed to express solidarity with Kashmiris.
WEB DESK: A Kashmir Day is being observed across Pakistan today with the opposition parties being implicated of playing in the hands of enemies after the narrative spewed against state and institutions in the rallies of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
The people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) observe Accession Day with India as “ Black Day” around the world.
Ever since it happened back in 1947, Pakistan has extended its support with the Kashmiri brethren and has backed the demands of the right to self-determination as per United Nations (UN) resolutions.
However, the country is itself mired in difficulties after recent developments in the political climate and stiffness between the government and opposition.
A recent episode of this was witnessed in the National Assembly (NA) session on October 26 when the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi remarked that the opposition was en route the path of enemies as the former accused the latter of spewing anti-state narrative in the PDM rallies.
A humiliating scenario was created in the lower house of the Parliament, when the minister moved to table a motion to condemn anti-Muslim acts committed in France.
As the foreign minister presented the motion, Khuwaja Asif of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) interrupted with a document on the same sensitive issue but drafted by the opposition. This created bedlam in the lower house before the motion was passed unanimously.
Recently Owais Norrani raised the slogan of ‘Free Balochistan’ in PDM Jalsa in Quetta, which garnered criticism from across the country.
Under these circumstances, the observation of Black Day with Kashmiris and extending political, diplomatic, and moral support to them could be futile. India could ploy the recent events occurring in Pakistan to tarnish the cause.
It can sell this rhetoric to the international community that Pakistan holds no moral point to talk on the rights of Kashmiris when its own countrymen were demanding separation.
The anti-state narrative by PDM and accusations of playing in the hands of the enemies will thus affect the objective of the Black Day observed to express solidarity with the oppressed population of the occupied valley.
Since the political temperature is high, the opposition and the government may not hold joint rallies to show support for the Kashmir cause owing to political stiffness.
The neighboring country which had been oppressing Kashmiris for nearly seven decades now will surely highlight the political climate and anti-state narrative resonating in Pakistan.
However, both entities should at least brave out the day together to convey a strong message to India that they stand consolidated for the cause despite political differences.
Thus, the incumbent government and opposition parties are required to come together, shun differences at least for today and send a strong message to India that its standpoint on the issue of the occupied valley cannot jolt its resolve on the Kashmir issue despite everything that has or will occur.
