Mehdi Ali Kazmi, kidnapping case

A major development was seen in the girl kidnapping case who was allegedly abducted from Karachi. After the consent of the girl, the Sindh High Court (SHC) temporarily handed over her to her parents.

In the case related to the alleged abduction of a minor girl, the custody petition was heard by the parents in the Sindh High Court (SHC).

During the hearing, Zaheer Ahmed’s lawyer told the court that this application is inadmissible. The judicial magistrate rejected the application related to the custody of the girl child. The application related to the custody of the girl is also pending in the trial court.

Zaheer Ahmed’s lawyer further said that the petitioner should approach the trial court. The girl was sent to a shelter home on the orders of the court and the girl was not staying in anyone’s captivity while the girl is also the main witness in the case.

The lawyer added that the parents have had five meetings with the girl and they ask the girl whether she wants to go to the parents or not. He said Zaheer Ahmed should also be allowed to meet the girl.

Justice Iqbal Kalhoro called the girl and asked what is her name, to which the girl said that her name is Dua-e-Zahra and I was studying in the seventh standard and my parents and sister are present in the court. She added that she wants to go with her parents.

The lawyer argued that the girl should be stopped from being taken out. Justice Iqbal Kalhoro remarked that everyone wants to go to their parent’s house and no one wants to leave them. The courts are open for everyone, the girl is young and willing to go to her parents and does not want to go to a shelter home, he remarked

The court asked the girl’s father, Mehdi Ali Kazmi, what guarantee will he give to the court? The court while talking to the girl’s mother said we are giving you the girl and you have a heavy responsibility now.

The SHC, while allowing the girl to go with her parents temporarily, said that the decision of the permanent custody of the girl will be decided by the trial court.
