KMC Flower Show With Aid of Diff Organizations
Some 20,000 Marigold flower pots were prepared and displayed by Faizan-e-Madina in Frere Hall Karachi
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Parks and Horticulture Department organized a three-day Marigold Flower Show for the first time at the Frere Hall, Karachi. However, the revealed truth is that the KMC flower show was organized with the aid of welfare organizations as the department’s nurseries are not-functional.
Parks and Horticulture department has garnered all the credits and appreciations by the citizens. Meanwhile, it was later learned that the KMC flower show was organized with the aid of different organizations and NGOs.
As per the reports, some 20,000 Marigold flower pots were prepared and displayed by Faizan-e-Madina in Frere Hall Karachi.
Director General (DG) Parks and Horticulture Taha Saleem contacted the related official of Faizan-e-Madina to seek cooperation for the management of the event.
With the consent to cooperate, the organization started devising the plan for the three-day-long flower show.
Meanwhile, the volunteers from Faizan-e-Madina worked day and night to make Marigold Flower Show a successful event for Karachi. However, the real organizers failed to get the appreciation they deserved instead KMC gets lauded by the public.
According to reports, the flower pots on display in the exhibition were borrowed from some private nurseries in the city,whereas, K-electric also provided the planters and flowers for the Marigold Festival.
The giveaways for the visitors were arranged with the collaboration of the JDC Foundation and a private online shopping organization.
In preceding winters, the KMC Horticulture department used to display more than a thousand different varieties of flowers in the exhibition, however, this year, the three-day-long exhibition focused mainly on Marigolds.
The success of the show has been credited to DG Parks Taha Saleem, and Deputy Director Park East Amin, who is on deputation.

There have been around 101 KMC parks across the metropolitan city, out of which only a dozen are in good condition mainly due to the supervision by NGOs.
KMC parks and horticulture department has been striving to get rid of the responsibility of parks in Karachi.
Over the years, the department has failed to maintain the green belts, side belts, central islands, and intersections of several highways across the city.
With the increase in environmental pollution, the city is in dire need to combat the issue with plantation plans.
However, as per the sources, the department has not initiated any plantation plan for the upcoming season in Karachi.
