The employees of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) education department have started taking premature retirement for benefitting their children.
It has been learned in an inquiry that several employees of KP education department applied for premature retirement on medical grounds to secure jobs for their children.
The practice has been observed widely among the workers working in basic pay scale (BPS) 3 to 12.
Most of them switch their jobs after taking retirement and their children get inducted under medical quota, the documents said.
The practice is also prevalent in the elementary and secondary education department where the candidates are recruited as Primary School Teachers (PSTs), BPS 13, without qualifying for any test or interview and the only requirement is a bachelor’s degree.
The documents said the practice has led to the deterioration of education in schools as less qualified educators occupy the post without any examination.

KP government has decided to block the practice and for this purpose, it has been decided to amend the law to make it mandatory for all workers to complete their 25-year service.
In this regard, the provincial government has proposed recommendations in the KP Civil Servants Pension Rules and Orders 2006.
