PM Lauds as KP Health Cards to Cover Entire Population

Prime Minister Imran Khan lauded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for becoming the first province to give complete health coverage to the entire population through Sehat Sahulat Cards.

KP Chief Minister Muhammad Mahmood Khan declared a step towards the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan to make Pakistan a welfare state.

As per details, as many as 40,000,000 people holding the domicile of KP will be eligible for the health cover.

Under the Universal Health Coverage, each family in the province will get health insurance of up to Rs 1,000,000 per year.

The facility will be offered to the cardholders in over 400 public and private hospitals across Pakistan and 130 in the province.

The Sehat Sahulat Program was launched in 2015 during PTI’s government in KP. At that time, only 3% population of the province was covered under health insurance. Now, after six years, Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the KP government for becoming the first province to give complete health coverage to the entire population through Sehat Sahulat Cards.

The government and State Life Insurance entered an agreement as per which the insurance company would render the required amount to the cardholders on need.

Sehat Sahulat Program

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government launched the program to give every family in KP health insurance covered.

The Sehat Sahulat cards are issued to families only, not individuals.

Number of Families

As per the estimated figure, there are around eight million families in the province with five members each on average.

Transgender persons to be facilitated

The people who identify themselves as transgender persons and are registered with National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) under the gender X category will be deemed as a family under the program.
