KP IG to be Replaced After Rift With CM Mahmood Khan

After the reshuffling in the Punjab police, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is mulling to change the Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as the rift between the provincial police chief and KP Cheif Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan escalates.

KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has informed Prime Minister Imran Khan that he is dissatisfied with the performance of the IG Sanaullah Abbasi.

Sources said that the KP CM Mahmood Khan has expressed reservations over the omnipotence of the IG and the rift between them has reached the apex.

It added that the provincial police chief did not even take Mahmood Khan in confidence on inter-departmental transfers while many competent policemen were expelled from the province.

KP CM Mahmood Khan is disgruntled on the way IG Sanaullah Abbasi is running the affairs of the police department in the province.

Therefore, he has informed Prime Minister Imran Khan about the matters that led to the rift between him and the KP police chief.

Sources said that the disagreements between KP IG Sanaullah Abbasi and KP CM Mahmood Khan has stalled the reforms process in the provincial police for which the PTI government had been vehement about.
