In the meantime, MPAs including Nighat Orakzai and Bilawal Afridi reached the hospital and joined the protesting family and assisted them in harassing medical workers.
The hospital’s emergency gate was forcibly closed which put dozens of lives of incoming patients at risk.
In response to the mayhem, HMC Young Doctors Association (YDA) announced to shut down elective services and outpatient department (OPD) department.
The association set the deadline until today’s noon to take action against the suspects.
They threatened to shut down the emergency department and stop treatment in coronavirus wards if the demand was not met.
KP YDA backed the demands of HMC YDA and said that the provincial association could give a province-wide protest call.
Further, KP Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra said, “We have taken notice of an attack on hospital premises of Hayatabad Medical Complex by an MPA from Khyber and a lady MPA. DC Peshawar and DC Khyber have proactively sorted out the issue”.
He condemned instigation by lawmakers against HMC medical workers who were providing service to 200 covid-19 patients daily.
2. To instigate people in a hospital when it is providing service to 200 covid patients a day is unfortunate. Violence at hospitals is NOT right. We will stand by our doctors & the medical community, & we will continue serving our people to the best of our abilities.

Moreover, MPA Bilawal Afridi rejected the claims regarding his involvement in the incident.
Taking to his Twitter account, he refuted even being at the site when the incident took place.
2) The protest was held by the family of the victim who lost his life due to the alleged negligence of doctors. I never went to that hospital, but in fact, my cousin, Shafiq Sher went to the place of the incident to help in sorting this issue.
