KP Police Left in Lurch Without Bulletproof Jackets
KP police have announced to provide 1,500 vests to on-duty officers but the purchase will not be possible before June 30
Despite allocation of funds in the budget, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police have not been able to procure bulletproof jackets and the officials on duty are without any protection.
Due to non-payment of advance to private companies, the safety equipment could not be purchased in the outgoing fiscal year.
KP police personnel are performing their duties without bulletproof jackets even in the strife-torn integrated tribal districts.

In a recent decision, KP police have announced to provide 1,500 vests to the on-duty officers and in this regard, the procedure with the technical evaluation committee has been completed.
However, it will be not possible for the police department to get safety gear until the fiscal year ends on June 30.
Notably, despite the martyrdom of hundreds of policemen in the war on terror, KP police have not been able to procure bulletproof jackets and helmets for more than five years.
As per details provided by police officials, the procurement of the jackets will be possible only in the upcoming fiscal year starting July 1.
On the other hand, a decision has been made to obtain the vests from private companies instead of the government suppliers. The decision was made to access the jackets at economical rates with swift delivery.
