KPC bans entry of lawyer, social activist Jibran Nasir

The KPC body states that Jibran Nasir's act of 'threatening and pressurising journalists' was condemnable. The lawyer rejects the allegations.

KARACHI: The Karachi Press Club (KPC) has imposed a ban on the entry of lawyer and social activist, Jibran Nasir, for allegedly taking revengeful action, registering case against journalists and pressurising them for one-sided reporting in Dua Zehra case. Nasir denied the allegations.

The KPC body stated in its press release stated that Jibran Nasir’s act of ‘threatening and pressurising journalists’ was condemnable as he was allegedly forcing media persons to cover the court proceedings.

The press club said that Nasir had earlier exhibited the same threatening behaviour against journalists multiple times and later apologised following the protest. The KPC criticised that Jibran Nasir was trying to stop journalists from covering court proceedings and during the hearing of the Dua Zehra case, he asked the judicial magistrate to send the journalists out of the courtroom.

Responding to the KPC press release, the lawyer rejected the allegations and said that he has never threatened any journalist in any case instead giving them brotherly suggestions. He clarified that the judge had vacated the courtroom under child marriage rules 2016.

The lawyer said that he has not filed a petition against any journalist in the case and the person who wrote the press release would face embarrassment.

He added that it will neither be the first allegation against him nor the last instead it gives him more confidence to continue the legal battle for the truth.
