Speaker KPK Assembly Mushtaq Ghani has filed a contempt petition in Supreme Court against Governor Haji Ghulam Ali Khan on Monday for not giving date of general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaker KP Assembly Mushtaq Ghani requested in the petition that despite the orders of the Supreme Court, the governor is refusing to give a date for holding general elections in the province.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also been made a party in the petition filed by Mushtaq Ghani.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to file a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court against the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for disobeying court orders related to holding elections in the province.
PTI’s lawyers have prepared a detailed petition to be submitted to the Supreme Court.
Former speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, former provincial education minister Taimur Jhagra and Shaukat Yousafzai along with PTI’s legal team will go to the court to submit the petition.
In its next move against Governor KP, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will file a case for legal action against the Governor under Article 6 of the Constitution.
