Lack of masses’ support: Karachi hosts PPP, PSP rallies with low participation

PPP and PSP held power shows in Karachi on Sunday, however, they failed to show impressive public support as compared to PTI public gatherings.

KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Mustafa Kamal-led Pak-Sarzameen Party (PSP) have held power shows in Karachi on Sunday, however, they failed to show impressive public support as compared to the back-to-back mammoth public gatherings being organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressed a public gathering in Karachi yesterday with the surprisingly low public participation in the provincial capital of Sindh in which his political party is in power.

In his first address at the Karachi rally for the first time after joining the present government’s cabinet, the PPP chairman alleged that Imran Khan wanted to turn every institution into his Tiger Force. He congratulated the PPP workers for outstanding support to remove the PTI government.

He said that PPP and other parties used democratic means to topple the Imran Khan-led government through the no-trust motion.

Bilawal also blamed Imran Khan for the diplomatic isolation of Pakistan.

However, the public participation was not impressive in the PPP’s Karachi rally as per the expectation of a ruling party’s power show in the provincial capital. The political party chose a narrow road instead of exhibiting public power in an open area like PTI’s rallies.

PSP chief Mustafa Kamal also targeted the PTI chairman in a rally organised for the party’s women workers at Bagh-e-Jinnah and called him an ineligible ruler. He also criticised PPP leadership for focusing on just political deals but paying no attention to the Karachi issues and serious water scarcity across the province.

He said that Imran Khan’s government was not ended up by the United States (US) but the Allah Almighty.

A reporter of a private news channel KTN, Altaf Channa, was taken hostage by the PSP workers for recording the videos of the empty ground.

On the other hand, Imran Khan-led PTI organised another mammoth public gathering in Faisalabad yesterday which was attended by thousands of activists at Dhobi Ghat Ground.

In his address, Imran Khan invited Faisalabad people to respond to his Islamabad march’s call in the coming days. Moreover, he also revealed that a conspiracy is being hatched to assassinate him and he recorded a video to name the people who will be responsible if something happens to him.
