LAHORE: Lahore Gymkhana has reportedly banned the entry of maids and servants of the members following a decision of its management committee.
In a letter sent to members, the management of Lahore Gymkhana notified that private servants, maids, drivers or bodyguards are not allowed in any part of the club beyond the car parking areas. The gymkhana management considered it a violation of its laws.
In case of a violation, the member will face a two-month suspension.
The decision was taken by gymkhana’s management in a meeting held on November 29 in which members are allowed to bring up to 4 guests in the café but children were not permitted to be there. However, children were given permission to avail the facilities of the play area.
It also read the rule to abide by the dress code rule as its violation will lead to a one-month membership suspension.
A Twitter post ready, “Lahore Gymkhana takes elitism to another level. Maids and Servants are not allowed. One may be accompanied by a criminal but not maids & servants. Mind you after the promulgation of the PUNJAB DOMESTIC WORKERS ACT, 2019, no one can be termed as a servant. Colonial hangover.”
