Lawmakers to be Briefed Privately By Military Leadership
ISI chief will elucidate the civilian leadership on the impending challenges following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan
The lawmakers will be briefed by military leadership on the anticipated changes in the security dynamics arising from the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in September and flux in disputed Kashmir.
The briefing to be given by the military officials to the lawmakers in the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security at the Parliament House would be in-camera.
The parliamentary heads of all parties in both houses of the parliament and federal ministers have been invited to the meeting on July 1 at 3 pm.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief General Faiz Hameed will meet the leaders of the opposition parties.
The meeting has been summoned on the persistent demands of the opposition leaders including Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
However, it is still uncertain if Prime Minister Imran Khan will be a part of it.
The meeting will be convened by National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser.
Notably, the assembly secretariat traditionally issues the statement regarding the meetings of the standing committees of the NA. But, the secretariat has issued no statement for it while only notification was issued.
Some 45 parliamentarians have been invited to the meeting including 16 who have received special invitations.
The opposition leaders in the meeting include PPP Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Maulana Asad Mehmood (JUI-F), Khalid Siddiqui (MQM), Sardar Akhtar Mengal (BNP-Mengal), Khalid Hussain Magsi (BAP), Ghos Bakhsh Khan Mahar (GDA), Ali Haider Khan Hoti (ANP) and Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti (JWP).
Senate Leader of the House Shahzad Waseem, Leader of Opposition Yousuf Raza Gilani, PPP Parliamentary Leader Sherry Rehman, Azam Nazeer Tarar (PML-N), Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar (BAP), Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri (JUI-F), Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari (MQM-P), Syed Muzafar Hussain Shah (PML-F), Mushtaq Ahmed (JI) and Muhammad Tahir Bizinjo (National Party) have also been invited to the meeting.
Hidayatullah Khan, Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen, Kamil Ali Agha, Muhammad Qasim and Dilawar Khan will also attend the briefing.
Some 16 legislators have been specially invited to the briefing include Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, Pervez Khattak, Asad Umar, Shafqat Mahmood, Shireen Mazari, Babar Awan, Ali Muhammad Khan, Amir Dogar, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Ahsan Iqbal and Hina Rabbani Khar.
The last meeting between the opposition leaders and military leadership was held in September last year.
Sources said that the parliament will be briefed on the regional situation including Afghanistan and India.
