Lawyers organizations across the country demand supremacy of Constitution from Supreme Court

legal bodies say they do not want clash with any national institution, they only want implementation of constitution and rule of law

Newly elected body of Lahore High Court Bar and other lawyers’ organizations unanimously agreed that there should be no deviation from the constitution, if the constitution has written that elections should be held within 90 days, then elections should be held within 90 days. The nominated body has said that we stand behind Supreme Court and want Supreme Court to decide under Constitution.

The Lahore High Court Bar and other lawyers’ organizations have said in a press conference yesterday that they do not want a fight with any domestic institution, they only want the implementation of the constitution and the rule of law. All the country’s institutions should respect their constitutional limits, throwing mud on the judiciary by political circles is not a correct move. This country has always suffered from instability.

These views were expressed by Hamid Khan, former president of the Supreme Court Bar and head of the professional group, while holding a press conference. On this occasion, the newly elected President of Lahore High Court Bar Chaudhry Ishtiaq A Khan, member Pakistan Bar Council Abid Saqi, newly elected Vice President High Court Bar Rabia Bajwa, Secretary Sabahat Rizvi, Finance Secretary Shahrukh Shahbaz Waraich, President of Lahore Bar Rana Intizar. Hussain, Secretary Kafeel Khokhar, former Presidents Lahore High Court Bar Mian Abdul Qudous, Shafqat Mahmood Chauhan, Rana Zia Abdul Rehman, former Chairman of Punjab Bar Council Executive Committee Farooq Khokhar and a large number of lawyers participated.

Hamid Khan said that lawyers are followers of the supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary in Pakistan. Because we are all great soldiers of the constitution.

Hamid Khan further said that he stands with the constitution and the law in the implementation of the law, but if there is a minister against the constitution, then its effects on the country may be negative. The manner in which the leaders of some political parties are attacking the Judiciary, which is regrettable, will not be tolerated by the lawyers’ community, we are also the protectors of the Judiciary.

He said that bar councils, bar associations cannot be the tools of any political party, no political party has the authority to dictate any bar.

He said that a campaign is being conducted against the President of the Supreme Court Bar, which he condemns.

Newly elected President Chaudhry Ishtiaq A. Khan said that he is standing against those who attacked the judiciary. He said that all are respectable as are the judges. He said that no compromise will be accepted on the observance of fundamental rights, the rule of the constitution and the rule of law.

Lahore Bar President Rana Intizar said that he believes in independent judiciary, judiciary should be independent. He said that black coat is the priority. On this occasion, member of Asma Jahangir Group, Pakistan Bar Council Abid Saqi said that when we fight elections, we are opponents, when we win, we are like one body.

He said that there is no war on the matter of principles. He said that there is talk of accountability of judges, but no one mentions the name of journals here. He said that musical chairs have been going on for the past 75 years, but today there is a need for an organized struggle.

Rana Intizar demanded that the journals should also be held accountable. He said that the election should be held within 90 days, no one has the authority to change the constitution. He said that we will be a leaden wall against those who violate the constitution.
