Head of Tehreek-e-Insaf, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has claimed regarding his arrest on corruption charges that it was ordered by Army Chief General Asim Munir.

The British daily Financial Times has claimed in one of its reports that Imran Khan, the most popular political leader of Pakistan, blamed the army chief for his arrest.

According to Financial Times, the popular political leader of Pakistan, Imran Khan, is openly fighting with the army. The political crisis is increasing day by day due to his harsh criticism of the army chief.

The report said that Pakistan’s popular leader and former Prime Minister Imran Khan said that military generals have endangered our constitution, democracy and fundamental rights.

Imran Khan said that the army generals are destroying the future of the country for their own protection, while the army insists that it has not interfered in civilian politics for a long time.

Khan alleged that Army Chief Asim Munir wanted to prevent his return to power to save his position as he was removed as ISI chief in 2018.

According to the Financial Times, the army paved the way for his prime ministership in 2018, but their relationship soured last year and Khan lost power due to a lack of confidence.

The report said that after the restoration of civilian rule, Pakistan’s powerful army of generals continued to rule the nuclear-armed country from behind the scenes.

According to the British daily, the Wazirabad incident also led to an increase in political tension, while Imran Khan blamed the shooting on a senior military official saying that he wanted to kill him.

According to the report of the Financial Times, army installations, private and government properties including the Corps Commander’s House were severely damaged in the violent incidents of the arrest of the former prime minister.

The British newspaper said that Imran Khan, who exposed cases of corruption and terrorism, is trying to become the prime minister once again after the next elections.

The political opponents of Tehreek-e-Insaaf said that Imran Khan is trying to put pressure on Army Chief Asim Munir with his statements because many army generals are still supporters of Imran Khan.

According to the newspaper report, the political crisis in Pakistan came at a time when ordinary Pakistani citizens are struggling with the country’s worst economic crisis and inflation in the last four years.

Annual inflation reached 36 percent in April, while the country’s foreign reserves of $4.4 billion are barely enough to cover one month’s worth of imports, the report said.
