The route of the Malir Expressway in Karachi, the capital of Pakistan’s Sindh province, is likely to be changed at the request of the PPP leader while the villagers protested against possible change.
Residents, including women, marched from the Pakistan Hotel to Jam Goth in Malir on Friday to oppose the construction of the Malir Expressway.
According to sources, important personalities have once again become active for the protection of their housing schemes along the proposed route.
PPP leaders called on Sindh Chief Minister and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for variations in the interchanges and compensate the population of eight different villages.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah assured that he would talk to the relevant authorities to take further steps.
In this regard, Provincial Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah said orders have been issued on Malir Expressway to resolve the concerns of the locals.
This is an important project for Karachi and its path will be one that the locals do not object to, he added.

He said that the elected representative of Malir had conveyed the matter to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of which he had taken notice. Chairman PPP has directed him to address the concerns of the locals.
Nasir Hussain Shah added that the management has been sent to Malir Expressway and he will be sharing the results soon.
Sources said that the villages have been occupied by none other than PPP representatives themselves. The route of Malir Expressway is being changed due to the existence of elected representatives’ housing schemes.
