Mascots of Aladin Down in the Dumps After Demolition

Aladin demolition mascots

The demolition of the Aladin shopping mall at Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi by the anti-encroachment force has left hundreds in miserable conditions including the mascots working on low wages.

The mascots, who used to spread smiles among the visitors especially children, are left forlorn and dejected after the demolition of their only means of survival.

The workers staged a protest in front of the press club and demanded the government either take back the decision or provide them with alternate job options.

A mascot maintained that he lives in a rented house with two kids and bearing the expenses after closure of the park after the anti-encroachment operation seems grueling now.

“We used to enjoy our nature of job here and now we are left with no option to feed our families”, he added.

One of the mascots informed News360 that the low-paid staff including the gardeners and cleaners are devastated as they have no other option left after the demolition of Aladin shopping mall.

“We are uneducated people and finding a job in the given circumstances would be out of the question for us”, he said.

The mascots and other low-paid workers appealed to the government to provide them with jobs so they could earn a living.

“If the government cannot accommodate us with new jobs then it should take back its decision”, the mascots demanded.
