Pakistan to Witness Unified Ramazan and Eid After Years
This year, the incumbent government is holding the Ruet committee meeting for moon sighting in Peshawar for a uniformed Ramazan
Moon sighting has been a socio-religious challenge in Pakistan, however this year, the government has announced to hold the meeting of Ruet-e-Hilal (moonsighting committee) in Peshawar after a gap of eighteen years to withstand the disputes.
Every year, Pakistanis feel divided as mosque Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar dissents and announce the start and end of the holy month asynchronously with the rest of the country.
However, this year, the incumbent government is holding the Ruet committee meeting for moon sighting in Peshawar for a uniformed Ramazan.

The meeting of the Central Ruet Committee for moonsighting is going to be held today at Auqaf Hall Peshawar that will be headed by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
Nationwide Protests by TLP Brought Country to a Standstill
Maulana Azad maintained, “The committee is going to conduct the meeting in Peshawar to address the reservations of the locals”.
While talking to News360, he said that the announcement of Ramazan moon was the precedent of the central committee only and no minister or local committee was allowed proclamation.
Members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee told News360 that the decision has been unanimously taken with the consent of the prominent clerics from KP while Shahabuddin Popalzai, who was a bone of contention in the Ramazan’s moon matter over the years, was also invited to join the meeting. However, he refused to attend it.
Last year, an official of the Ministry of Science and Technology has been included in the Ruet committee too.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr Tariq Masood, Joint Secretary at Ministry of Science & Technology is appointed a member (technical expert) in the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Meanwhile, the ministry has also introduced Ruet App for android and iPhone users last week.
