Mountaineers Shehroze Kashif, Fazal Ali go missing after Nanga Parbat summit

Shehroze Kashif lost contact while returning from the mountain which was his eighth summit.

Shehroze Kashif’s father, Kashif Salman wrote on Twitter with his video message, “Emergency rescue appeal by Shehroze Kashif’s father, Kashif Salman, to Pakistan Army to start rescue operation to save both #ShehrozeKashif and #FazalAli who are stranded on #NangaParbat since last night. Please share this so it reaches the right people!!! ”

Kashif said that it is a very challenging time for them. He added that they were in touch with the mountaineers through a tracker up to an altitude of 7,350 feet before losing contact with them.

Shehroze Kashif had become the youngest climber to summit Nanga Parbat in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region.

Shehroze Kashif has scaled Everest, K2, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Manaslu, and the Broad Peak, and the Nanga Parbat was his eighth summit of an 8-thousander. The 20-year-old mountaineer expressed aims to hold the record for being the youngest person to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks.

Kashif’s partner Fazal Ali hails from Shimshal and is also an experienced climber, with the distinction of summiting K2 three times. He has been part of multiple expeditions of other peaks in the Karakoram range.
