MQM founder tenders apology again, seeks way to join politics

MQM founder Altaf Hussain tendered apology once again and sought a way to join national politics like other politicians.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has tendered apology once again and sought a way to join national politics like other politicians.

A TikTok video of the MQM founder Altaf Hussain went viral on social media in which he said that several Pakistani politicians were being awarded apology these days and some people told him to seek apology as well.

He then sang a song to seek an apology for his past deeds, apparently to get access to join national politics once again.

In another Twitter video, Altaf Hussain demanded the Pakistani government, judiciary and other institutions lift the ban on his speeches to MQM activists in Pakistan after his acquittal in different cases in the UK.

In February 2022, the 12-member jury in a majority verdict acquitted MQM supremo Altaf Hussain on two counts of “encouraging terrorism” under the UK’s Terrorism Act 2006.

The charges pertained to two separate speeches made by the self-exiled political leader via telephone to supporters in Karachi on Aug 22, 2016.

Analysts said in the recent wave of pardons being granted to several politicians, Altaf Hussain tendered an apology to the Pakistani authorities. They questioned whether the MQM founder will also be granted pardon by the Pakistani authorities by allowing him to take part in national politics again or not.
