KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has borne internal pressure from the party leaders after witnessing no progress on the political agreement with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and guarantor Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) to support the ouster of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Sources told News360 that the MQM-P leaders expressed serious concerns over having no progress on their political agreement with the ruling political parties, PPP and PML-N, in the Sindh province and the Centre.

They expressed reservations over the delay in fulfilment of promises made by the PPP including the Sindh governorship, however, the province’s ruling party made no progress on appointing an MQM-P governor despite receiving nominated persons.

Sources said that MQM-P leaders have also contacted PML-N who acted as a guarantor in the political agreement, however, they diverted them to the PPP for the implementation of the recommendations.

On the other hand, PPP responded to the queries of MQM-P leadership by saying that they will make a decision after the approval of Asif Ali Zardari who will consult the PML-N in the Centre first.

In the last week of March, MQM-P had announced to support the opposition’s no-confidence motion against former prime minister Imran Khan and voted for his ouster after signing a political agreement with PPP.

It is pertinent to mention here that the MQM-P decided not to join the federal cabinet but aimed to support the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government without possessing any ministry.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui had said that MQM held detailed discussions with the coalition government leaders on this matter. He added that MQM-P is more interested in the fulfilment of the promises made by the allies regarding the welfare of Karachi and other parts of the province.
