MQM Pakistan’s resignations, serious matter or blackmail?

According to media reports, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan has received resignations from its legislators expressing serious concerns over recent digital census

MQM Pakistan has submitted resignations from its Members of National Assembly and Senators and will schedule submission of resignations in the upcoming consultative meeting, a move immediately following this letter. Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has written to President Arif Alvi in which he has demanded that President ask Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take a vote of confidence from the National Assembly. Political analysts say that it seems that the census is a pretext, actually MQM-Pakistan wants to cash in on itself once again.

MQM Pakistan Coordination Committee meeting was held yesterday under the chairmanship of convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. The meeting was attended by Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, Nasreen Jalil, Anees Qaim Khani and other senior leaders.

MQM-Pakistan National Assembly Members, Sindh Assembly Members and Senators have submitted their resignations to the party leadership during the conference, expressing serious concerns over the digital census in Sindh, especially Karachi.

Geo News’ renowned reporter Aizaz Syed has reported the resignation of MQM Pakistan MNAs and Senators.

According to the spokesperson of MQM, in the meeting chaired by convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the current political and economic situation of the country was discussed in detail, and various issues including organizational and census statistics were discussed.

While expressing concern, the coordination committee severely criticized the non-serious attitude of the rulers regarding the ongoing census across the country. The coordination committee said that despite evidence of irregularities, accurate statistics are not being presented which is a cause for concern.

The spokesperson of MQM Pakistan further said that important decisions have been taken regarding the irregularities in the digital census, and the future course of action will be informed after the consultation.

It should be noted that yesterday Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed sent a message to the President to seek a vote of confidence from the National Assembly for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Former minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed sent a letter to President Dr. Arif Alvi through the mediation of his lawyer Azhar Siddique.

It is written in the post that it is the constitutional responsibility of the government to hold elections, the Prime Minister has lost the majority by not getting funds approved by the National Assembly. Therefore, the President of the State should issue instructions to the Prime Minister to take a vote of confidence from the House.

However, commenting on the echo of the resignations of MQM Pakistan, political analysts say that considering the delicacy of the situation, Muttahida has collected the resignations according to old traditions. Muttahida now says that they will meet the Prime Minister and openly express their concerns on the digital census.

Political analysts say that the Coordinating Committee has played a trick when the letter written by Sheikh Rasheed to the President has demanded a vote of confidence from the Prime Minister. They say that census is a pretext, actually Muttahida wants to increase its price by blackmailing.
