MQM-P’s Women Convention turns out to be flop show

MQM-P Women Convention

Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui-led Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) organised a women’s convention in Karachi’s Nishtar Park which turned out to be a flop show.

The MQM-P failed to gather a huge crowd as the political party did in the past by organising power shows of thousands of people. However, the political party which is divided into many factions seemingly find it difficult to gather a huge number of activists this time.

Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Khawaja Izharul Hasan, Nasreen Jalil, Kishwar Zehra and others addressed the convention.

Addressing the convention, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that after 2012, this is a big historical gathering of women, and no one can destroy or break MQM. He criticised that some elements changed the centre of Karachi and ruined the economy.

Khawaja Izhar said that the next mayor of Karachi will be the woman of MQM. Those who came to bury MQM today their names and symbols have also been buried, he added.

Nasreen Jalil said in her address that why Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not work in Karachi. We had a lot of problems with PPP, our people were angry that they didn’t make an agreement with them, maybe our people were right, PPP is not fulfilling its promises, she said.

MNA Kishwar Zehra, MQM leader Khush Bakht Shuja and others also addressed the convention.

However, some netizens posted the videos of empty seats at the venue and slammed the MQM-P leadership for another political failure.

MQM London leader Mustafa Azizabadi posted the footage of the political party’s women rally that had been organised at Bagh-e-Jinnah on February 19 – 2012 which was addressed by the founder Altaf Hussain.
