Murtaza Wahab Failed at Clean-up Task on Eid-ul-Azha

The nominated administrator of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, failed at operation clean-up before assuming the charge as multiple areas of the megacity were spotted with animal waste during Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
The entrails and offal were witnessed lying on roadsides and streets across Karachi including New Karachi, North Karachi, Buffer Zone, Nazimabad, Landhi, Shah Faisal, Model Colony, Saudabad, Old City Area, Azizabad, Hussainabad, etc.
The waste of sacrificial animals were not picked up timely in Baldia Town, Ittehad Town, Massan Chowk, Padar Ground in Kemari district and Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sachal Goth, Bhitai Goth in district East of Karachi.

More than 80 collection points were set up across the city but they failed to meet the expectations owing to the lethargy of the administration.
Around 30,000 tons of animal waste was moved from different districts of Karachi to the designated landfill sites as claimed by the managing director of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB).
Sindh Government Spokesperson Murtaza Wahab, whose name has been finalized as Karachi’s new administrator, visited different areas of the metropolis to inspect operation clean-up on Eid-ul-Azha.
He said the provincial government had set up 85 collection points in the city.
He added that SSWMB was trying its best to pick up animal waste from the city and ensuring that it did not remain discarded on streets and roads.
However, the situation in the city contradicted his claims and the residents of several areas had to deal with putrid odor emitted from the offal and entrails on all three Eid holidays.
As the Sindh government failed to execute operation clean-up appropriately, the locals, as well as representatives of different political parties, picked up waste from different areas on a self-help basis.
On directions of the party’s Sindh general secretary, the activists of Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) continued operation in different constituencies including PS 123, 124, 126, 127, and 128.
