The National Assembly (NA) session was continued for three hours despite the lack of quorum as only 11 lawmakers attended the session and delivered only anti-PTI speeches.
The NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf chaired the Lower House’s session yesterday and allowed the speeches of the government lawmakers for three hours.
The lawmakers who delivered speeches included Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Maulana Asad Mehmood, Nafisa Shah and others who slammed Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Millions were spent from the national exchequer for the NA session despite the lack of quorum as the whole NA Secretariat and services for the lawmakers were resumed during the Lower House proceedings.
Analysts questioned who will be held accountable for the wastage of funds from the national exchequer for the last NA session with a lack of quorum. They said why the lawmakers who were present there did not ask the NA speaker to adjourn the proceedings due to short attendance.
They added if the Lower House’s session was so important then why the government lawmakers wasted the time delivering anti-PTI speeches despite knowing the opposition lawmakers were not even thinking about joining the NA proceedings?
