NAB calls SBCA Director in Illegal Constructions Inquiry
Mushtaq Ibrahim has been charged with receiving illegal gratification from the builders and allowing them to carry out unauthorized structures
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiry against the SBCA director and other officials allegedly involved in illegal constructions and causing damage of millions to the provincial exchequer.
Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director Mushtaq Ibrahim has been charged with receiving illegal gratification from the builders and allowing them to carry out unauthorized structures.
In this regard, a circular has been issued by the Sindh Local Government Department to the SBCA Director Admin.
The circular said that NAB has taken notice of alleged irregularities in the building control authority and therefore, the SBCA director has been summoned with the related record.
It noted that Mushtaq Ibrahim Soomro and 20 other officials violated rules for personal gains in an organized manner and caused a loss of millions of rupees to the provincial exchequer.
Hence, SBCA Director Mushtaq Ibrahim has been summoned by NAB on January 20 for recording his statement.
Sources said that there was the possibility of an inquiry against a secretary and additional secretary of the Sindh government by NAB.
Earlier, the mafia in the Sindh Local Government Department had closed inquiries against 317 officials charged with graft.
But, after the notice of the Supreme Court (SC), Sindh Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) had become active against the officials involved in illegal constructions.

The ACU had summoned 48 officials of SBCA in the same matter on January 11.
SBCA Administration Director had been instructed to ensure attendance of the officials before ACU.
Now, SBCA Director has been called by NAB to record his statement in the inquiry pertaining to alleged collusion with builders for personal gains.
