Nasla Tower Residents Left on Streets After Demolition Order

The residents sniveled that they will be homeless on the streets and will be left down and out

Supreme Court (SC) ordered the Sindh government to raze down Nasla Tower on Shahrah-e-Faisal as it was built on encroached land but ignored the plight of residents of the high-rise building.

The residents of the multi- storey structure filed a review petition and pleaded to regularize the property in the interest of third-party owners.

While talking to News360, the affectees were of the view that the court left them out in the cold while announcing the demolition of the 341 square yards building.

“SC should revise the order for the sake of the residents”, one of the occupants pleaded.

The residents sniveled that they will be homeless on the streets and will be left down and out.

“If buildings in the capital (Islamabad) can be regularized then why not the buildings in Karachi”, the residents of Nasla Tower raised the question.

They opined that the builder was not the encroacher of the state land and was having all required legal documents from land lease to NOC for the tower.

Qadir Kathiya, the builder of Nasla Tower, maintained that the high-rise was constructed after getting NOC from Sindhi Muslim Cooperating Housing Society (SMCHS), Karachi Development Authority (KDA), and Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).

“The tower was raised after obtaining 18 approvals from different bodies”, he asserted and questioned that how, all of a sudden, after 5 years it has become illegal.

The builder asserted that demolition of the building is not a suitable solution. “There is a dire need to regularize buildings in the metropolitan city”, he added.
