The meeting has taken place when Afghanistan has taken an antagonistic position against Pakistan after its government has become vulnerable to the Taliban following the farewell of US troops

The meeting between Pakistan Muslim League – N (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif and Afghan National Security Adviser (NSA) Dr Hamdullah Mohib garnered criticism and the government officials, journalists and social media users sought an explanation from the party.

They argued that the meeting has taken place when Afghanistan has taken an antagonistic position against Pakistan after its government has become vulnerable to the Taliban following the farewell of US troops.

However, the development turned adversarial as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders as well as prominent journalists including Nasim Zehra also raised the question on meeting of Nawaz Sharif with Afghan NSA.

The government officials including Federal Science Minister Shibli Faraz, Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari, and Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry accused the PML-N chief of going against the grain and meeting the enemies of Pakistan.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry expressed that allowing Nawaz Sharif to fly abroad was dangerous because such people become part of the international conspiracies.

“Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with Hamdullah Mohib, RAW’s biggest ally in Afghanistan, is an example of such an action”, he added.

The information minister went on to say that every enemy of Pakistan including Modi, Mohib, or Amrullah Saleh was a close friend of PML-N chief.

Similarly, the ministers also highlighted that Afghan NSA had called Pakistan a ‘brothel’.

Senior journalist Nasim Zehra also ranged herself with the government officials and asked PML-N leaders to publicize the details of the meeting.

Pakistani social media users, including analyst Khawar Ghumman, were also displeased with the meeting and called for PML-N to give a clarification on it.

After heavy criticism, PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif responded with a tweet, labeling the meeting as Nawaz Sharif’s ideology of peaceful relations with neighbors.
