Islamabad High Court Declared Nawaz Sharif An “Absconder”
President Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz got extension in parole for one day
WEB DESK: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was declared an ‘absconder’ by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday while the Punjab government granted an extension in the parole of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz for a day.
The hearing for former Prime Minister was conducted by Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and a short verdict is going to be issued soon.
The decision was taken against the former prime minister’s Al Azizia and Avenfiled cases and the court has issued show-cause notices to those who granted bail to Nawaz Sharif.
In the Azizia reference, Nawaz Sharif was handed seven years in prison and a ban on holding any public office for ten years.
While Sharif has to serve 10 years in jail for owning assets beyond income in Avenfield reference.
The court observed that summons for Nawaz Sharif were issued and despite the lapse of 30 days, the accused Nawaz Sharif did not appear before the court.
The court took this decision due to the absence of Nawaz from the court for his hearings.
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif was declared a proclaimed offender in the illegal allotment case by an accountability court in Lahore.
