KARACHI: The family of slain Nazim Jokhio, who had been found tortured to death at PPP MPA Jam Awais’ farmhouse, alleged police using delaying tactics to submit final challan of the case.
It may be noted here that the prosecution was due to submit the final charge sheet on January 10, however, the investigation officer (IO) sought more time to complete the legal procedures.
The interim charge sheet of Nazim Jokhio murder case had been submitted to the court on December 21 last year in which 22 suspects were nominated including two PPP lawmakers, two foreign guests, employees and security guards, however, the interim challan did not specify the role of each suspect.

On Monday, the local court in Karachi had directed the prosecution to submit the final challan within three days besides ordering to provide B-class jail facilities to the murder suspect Jam Awais instead of A-class with more amenities.
Six suspects had been produced before the Judicial Magistrate (Malir) Altaf Hussain amid tight security during the hearing on Monday while the PPP MPA was not wearing handcuffs to the complainant’s lawyer pointed out to the judge that the accused Jam Awais is being given protocol by police.

The counsel demanded the court to direct production of the suspects in handcuffs, whereas, the defence counsels argued to the demands, saying that the act would amount to humiliating an elected representative and the chief of a tribe.
The court declined the complainant’s counsel request and directed jail officials to provide B-class facilities to Jam Awais.
The 27-year-old Nazim Jokhio was found tortured to death at a farmhouse owned by the PPP MPA while the family nominated Jam Awais, his brother PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim and their henchmen in the murder case.
The horrible incident had taken place after Nazim Jokhio resisted hunting of houbara bustard by PPP lawmakers’ Arab guests in Achar Salaar village on the outskirts of Karachi’s Malir district.
