Netizens blast Maryam Nawaz after she questioned loadshedding status

Maryam Nawaz, loadshedding

The citizens have slammed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz after she questioned people to tell her about the current status of loadshedding duration in their respective areas.

On Twitter, Maryam Nawaz wrote, “Any improvement in load shedding in your area? Pls reply mentioning duration and your area/district. Thank you.”

The citizens who are annoyed by hours-long power outages across the country censured the current government for failing to handle the electricity issues.

The first reply was a video clip with a caption, “Yes, we are facing 12-hour loadshedding despite paying full bill amount and people are celebrating in Karachi.”

Javeria Siddique wrote, “Load shedding increased and even I am writing this tweet in during load shedding.” She added, “In our sector [in Islamabad] its 8 to 10 hours daily.”

Another user criticised that ‘Calibre’ is now questioned about the loadshedding status after pushing the country to bankruptcy.

Journalist Muqadas Farooq Awan said that there was no change in power outages. She said that Maryam Nawaz had tweeted the same on Eidul Fitr to inquire about the loadshedding areas.

Awan said that tweets are not the solution as they are facing loadshedding while commenting on her post.

A user from Karachi said that it is even worse now as the lapse of loadshedding is 3 hours and for 5 time in a day. The user stated that they spent the whole night without electricity with lame excuse of technical fault by the power provider K-Electric which is unscheduled loadshedding. “Its really pathetic now. Living in Korangi Karachi,” the user added.

From Lahore, a netizen wrote, “DHA phase 1, Lahore has loadshedding of up to 8 hours I believe. + and yes it occurs every other hour unannounced in all of lahore. Do try to fix this as i know for a fact that many people around me have had their health compromised due to the relentless heat + loadshedding.”

A user wrote, “Yes. Significant improvement Ma’am. It improved from 6 hours to 9.”

Journalist Yasir Sheikh said that over 12-hour loadshedding is a daily matter in all cities of South Punjab including Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur and others.
