New Year’s Eve With Stringent Measures In Pakistan
A ban has been imposed on aerial firing, one-wheeling, and other law-violating activities in the cities of Karachi and Lahore
New Year’s Eve falls on 31 December according to the Gregorian calendar with celebrations around the globe including parties, fireworks, gift exchanges, social gatherings, and festivities in almost all the countries. New Year’s Eve in Pakistan is a festivity full of colors and lights which is usually celebrated with fireworks and aerial firings in major cities of the country.
However, on this New Year’s Eve in Pakistan, a ban has been imposed on aerial firing, one-wheeling, and other law-violating activities in the cities of Karachi and Lahore.
In a meeting presided over by Commissioner Karachi Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, which was held to decide security and traffic measures for New Year’s night, it was announced that the police camps have been set up at various locations in the city.
The camps in the city have been set up to provide ambulances and fire tenders in case of emergencies to ensure the safety of the citizens.
The hospitals will remain on alert while traffic police will make arrangements to stop reckless driving and one-wheeling in the city. However, the motorists without a silencer will be handed over to the police immediately.
In order to avoid traffic jams, all restaurants and business centers will be closed after 8 pm on New Year’s night.
Sindh Police have released a WhatsApp number where citizens can send videos of aerial firing. Karachi Additional IG said that while keeping themselves safe, citizens should make videos of such elements and send them to WhatsApp number 03435142770 issued by the police.
He suggested that the incident should be reported first to police helpline 15.
Similarly, in Lahore, the police have issued a strict security plan for New Year’s night celebrations in the city.

Deputy Inspector General Operations (DIG) Ashfaq Khan has announced that more than 6,000 police officers and volunteers have been deployed in the city to ensure the security measures for the citizens.
However, the security will be tough at the entry and exit points of the city.
DIG has also directed the citizens of Lahore to immediately report the suspects and their activities to the police in case of any mishap.
