No-confidence motion: PTI govt presents formula to appease allies
PTI government presented a formula to appease allies MQM-P and PML-Q to divert their inclination from opposition on the no-confidence motion.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has presented a formula to appease its allies, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), to divert their inclination from the opposition on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Yesterday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice-chairman of the ruling PTI, had presented the formula to one of the ally parties, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), in which he proposed awarding ministries and strengthening the political party’s position in the Sindh province in return of their support to the government on the no-confidence motion.
Sources told News360 that most of the MQM-P’s demands were associated with provincial matters. Sources said that the PTI government hinted at awarding Sindh governorship to MQM-P besides their lawmakers’ induction as federal ministers and PM’s cabinet.
They said the proposal created a further attraction for the MQM-P as the federal government also hinted at opening all political offices of the ally party, especially in the provincial capital and its stronghold Karachi.

Moreover, an MQM-P delegation is also expected to meet the premier in Islamabad on his call today after their meeting with Qureshi.
On the other hand, the PTI-led federal government also expedited contacts with PML-Q and a government delegation is likely to meet PML-Q top leaders today. It was learnt that PML-Q’s long-standing demands are expected to be fulfilled by the PTI government in the coming days, sources said.
The strategic move has successfully forced the government allies to review their decisions, further postponing the final words on the no-confidence motion from two to three days until the voting day on the no-trust move.
The political strategy of the PTI government has shaken the opposition ranks after the adjournment of the National Assembly’s extraordinary session until March 28.

NA session’s adjournment
Yesterday, the National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser had adjourned the session till March 28 without any proceeding on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The NA Speaker Asad Qaiser had adjourned the session till March 28 (Monday) after conducting Fateha Khwani of late parliamentarians including a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Khail Zaman, Senator Rehman Malik, former president Rafiq Tarar and others.
Qaiser had said that it is a tradition to adjourn the NA session after the demise of a parliamentarian. He added that he will continue proceedings on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan in accordance with the regulations.
After the Fateha Khawani for the late parliamentarians, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had sought permission from the speaker for addressing the session. However, Qaiser had immediately adjourned the session till Monday, 4:00 pm.
