Ombudsperson Against Harassment Herself Harassed by ARY

The brawl between Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplaces, Kashmala Tariq and the private channel ARY isn’t out of sight anymore, and the recent photo of the Ombudsperson featured in the headlines has authenticated it.

Both the parties came to blows when Kashmala Tariq targeted the drama serial Dunk in her statement on Twitter and criticized the story portrayed in it.

“Sexual harassment is still a topic in our society that is not considered appropriate to discuss”, she maintained.

The Drama serial “Dunk” has been on-aired on ARY digital and is a Big Bang production.

The female ombudsperson issued notices to stop airing the controversial drama on ARY till further orders and asked Chairman PEMRA, Head of the channel, and Producer Fahad Mustafa to appear in-person and present their case.

However, the channel has backfired at the federal ombudsperson and broke the news of association between PML-N leader Khwaja Asif and Kashmala Tariq in limelight the same day.

The recent display of a non-public photo of the Ombudsperson on ARY has been a thread of past events.

Apparently, the non-public photo of Kashmala Tariq has been a harassing attempt on her, however, the Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women received no support from the so-called feminist supporters of the civil society.

The Twitter user maintained that he is not a fan of the Ombudsperson but he opposes the channel on how they portray everyone else other than Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The woman who has been appointed by the government of Pakistan to protect the rights of women and to vocalize against harassment cases has been herself facing harassment by one of the state’s leading media channel during prime hours.

Furthermore, Kashmala Tariq is not a model or actress from the media industry in Pakistan, she represents the women of Pakistan as an Ombudsperson and certainly does not deserve any sort of harassment from ARY.
