However, the opposition leaders have so far seemed reluctant to approach the apex court for initiating an inquiry on Memon’s allegations against government through a judicial commission or other legal channel.
Instead, the opposition is using the situation to gain political advantage and inveighing against the government.
The startling revelations by former DG FIA have endorsed what I have been saying for a long time: there is an unmistakable NAB-Niazi nexus that has been out to make forged cases against the PMLN & put its leaders behind bars. The farce stands exposed.

Ex-FIA DG allegations
Bashir Memon had claimed that Adviser to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar and Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem wanted him to make a money laundering case against Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa. However, he turned down the request.
Ex-FIA DG also claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted him to frame PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz in a terrorism case on multiple instances.
The former FIA chief asserted that the government wanted him to prosecute different political leaders from the opposition parties including PML-N’s Nawaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Asif, Javed Latif, and Khursheed Shah and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
A new chance for opposition
The allegations made the opposition land on its feet and leaders including PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif said that Bashir Memon had revealed Niazi-NAB nexus to frame fake cases against PML-N officials.
Addressing media in Islamabad, Maryam Nawaz said that there was no example in the history of Pakistan when such charges were made against a serving prime minister.
She expressed that the Prime Minister Office was now focused on intimidating heads of state institutions.
