Fast track service: Applicants can now get their passports in 24 hours in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has introduced a fast track service for the swift processing and delivery of passports within 24 hours to the applicants.

According to the Director-General (DG) of Immigration and Passports, the applicants can now get their passports within 24 hours.

DG Immigration and Passports said in a statement that the directorate had received 1,224 applications during the last few days of the trial period. He added that the department has successfully delivered passports to them within 24 hours without facing any failure.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed had also asked applicants to avail of the new fast track service for passports besides praising the team of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) for exhibiting good performance.

The new service will enable people to get their passports at their doorsteps without travelling to the offices and waiting in queues.

Earlier on December 8, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had announced that Pakistan will become the first country to launch its e-passport service. He added that the e-passport service will be launched next year.

He had made the announcement during a DGIP event to inaugurate the official logo, improvements in online facilitation of applicants, upgradation of DGIP website and fast track delivery service in zonal offices.
