PDM Reaches End in an Attempt to Dismantle PTI Government

Scowl-faced Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman did not even answer any questions in the press briefing after the meeting

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) lost steam as it split over the decision of mass resignations from the national assembly which forced the postponement of the long march on Islamabad.

PDM leadership met in a crucial meeting on Tuesday in Islamabad to reach a final decision on en masse resignations from the assembly.

However, the opposition alliance faced a major setback as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) surprised partners when its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari conditioned long march with the return of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan.

There were a plethora of complaints by Zardari and he maintained that leaving assemblies would be analogous to strengthening the position of Prime Minister Imran Khan and establishment.

However, Maryam Nawaz noted that his father (Nawaz Sharif) could not return to the country yet due to his health.

PDM Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman was terribly disappointed with PPP’s demand which forced the postponement of much-hyped and long-awaited long march.

Irked by the outcome of the sitting, scowl-faced Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman did not even answer any questions in the press briefing after it.

PDM had earlier postponed its decision to stage a long march against the government too and the latest development has exposed cracks within the ranks of the opposition alliance.

Senior journalist also met Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman to offer ‘condolences’ on the demise of PDM at the hands of Asif Ali Zardari.
