PDM pushed into blind alley after PML-Q swear allegiance to Imran Khan

The ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties were pushed in blind alley again after PML-Q swear allegiance to PTI chief Imran Khan.

The ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties were pushed into a blind alley again after Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) swear allegiance to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan despite the harsh statements of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

After Punjab CM Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s interview aired on ARY News, where he slammed Imran Khan, the big political players immediately held three important meetings.

Meetings between political bigwigs

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari met PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain separately while the former president met PM Sharif at his residence. Analysts have linked these meetings with efforts to prevent the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

PM Sharif met Shujaat Hussain at his residence in Lahore and discussed the current political and economic situation. The two leaders agreed to come together to solve the country’s economic and political problems. Hussain appreciated the efforts made by the premier to restore the economy.

Analysts say that the premier met Hussain at a time when the PTI chief announced the dissolution of the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on December 23. He said that the purpose of this meeting is to stop the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

Later, former President Asif Ali Zardari met the PML-Q president at his residence. According to sources, Zardari requested Hussain that he would not dissolve the assembly if Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be instructed. He also proposed to not bring a no-confidence motion against the Punjab CM.

According to the sources, Asif Ali Zardari asked Shujaat Hussain to play his role as the head of the PML-Q.

Later, Zardari met PM Sharif at his Model Town residence.

Zardari-Sharif meeting

According to News360 sources, Zardari and Sharif agreed to increase contacts with Hussain.

It has been agreed between Shahbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari that the task of stopping the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly should be given to Hussain.

Sources added that they agreed to not contact Pervaiz Elahi directly until the green signal from Hussain. The two leaders have agreed to keep a close eye on the situation. Sources said that Asif Zardari extended his stay in Punjab.

Moonis Elahi-Imran Khan meeting

On the other hand, Moonis Elahi reached Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence and swear PML-Q’s allegiance with the PTI.

In the meeting, the situation arising from the Punjab CM’s statement was also discussed and Moonis Elahi stated his position on the statement.

Sources said that Moonis has also apologized to Imran Khan over the interview of his father and has also agreed to maintain unity in the future.

Political analysts said that three major political players met yesterday to encash the Pervaiz Elahi’s statement, however, Moonis’ meeting with Khan overturned their efforts.

Analysts said that the top PDM leaders’ attempt was to focus on the interview given by Pervaiz and bring him back to their camp, however, this did not happen and Moonis immediately reached Khan’s residence to assure their cooperation.
