PDM Quetta Rally in Full Swing Despite of Terror Threat
Despite a warning from the government that militants can target the public rally the flags and banners of opposition parties of the PDM can be seen everywhere in the provincial capital
QUETTA: After more than two years of complete political stagnancy and the closure due to corona, the provincial capital and the only urban center of Balochistan, Quetta is once again hosting a political festival today.
Despite a warning from the government that militants can target the public rally, the flags and welcome banners of opposition parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) can be seen everywhere in the provincial capital.
The PDM meeting in Quetta is being hosted by the representative parties from Balochistan, including the JUI-F, BNP Mengal, the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, and the National Party, who have proved their ability to hold big public shows through Quetta gathering.
When News360 posed the question regarding the PDM Jalsa in politically and strategically sensitive province to various political leaders and analysts, most of them agreed on the point that this show will have positive impact on the political atmosphere of Balochistan.
According to the Central Leader of Balochistan National Party, Lashkari Raisani, the political stance of Mian Nawaz Sharif and his daughter is a victory for all those nationalists and parliamentary parties in Sindh, KPK and Balochistan, who have been believing in parliamentary politics and advocating and fighting for the democracy, equality and the supremacy of the constitution for decades.
Former senator Raisani further said that this meeting will certainly play an important role in breaking the stalemate in Balochistan.
According to him, the present federal and Balochistan governments have been trying to deprive the people of the right to speak and political struggle at all levels. According to him, the current meetings of the PDM have shattered the false spell of the government and given new spirit to political environment of the province.
PPP Balochistan President Ali Madad Jattak said that his party was fully participating in the PDM show. He said that the political rhetoric was being made regarding the participation of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in this meeting and the discussion about his video link speech is completely futile.
According to him, the chairman Bilawal has instructed the party to fully participate in the meeting. Jattak said that despite of the fears of terrorism and corona, PPP would play its due role in the struggle for restoration of democracy till the end.
