PEMRA & PBA Remain Oddly Silent on Violations by ARY News
Pakistan Broadcasters Association has remained vehement in urging PEMRA to clip wings of Bol News Channel over violations on different instances

The electronic media regulator, PEMRA, and Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA), the representative body of media channel owners, have remained oddly silent against ARY News over its violations of rules on two separate occasions during the past two days
On Wednesday, the ARY News channel reported false breaking news that A-level Urdu paper was leaked in Pakistan.
However, the news report was unverified and probably prepared in a haste as nothing of the sort had happened, or has happened until now.
A social media user had only threatened to leak the paper if Cambridge exams were not canceled in Pakistan.

Another violation was noticed in the NA-249 by-poll results in Karachi on Thursday.
The channel ignored PEMRA’s restriction for not airing any results until one hour after end of polling period. Despite it, the broadcaster aired the first result at around 5:07 pm.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has overlooked the violations of its rules by the ARY News.
PBA has remained vehement in urging PEMRA to clip wings of Bol News Channel in connection with defiance of regulations on different occurrences.
And PEMRA too has been quite active against Bol and it faced a month-long suspension of license in late January for airing ‘contemptuous remarks about the judges of Lahore High Court (LHC) in its program Tajzia.
The duplicity on part of PBA has raised several questions about its allegiance to rules as it is silent over the issue of ARY News perhaps because the channel is part of the organization too.
