Pervaiz Elahi Hauls PTI Govt Over Coals on Rescue 1122
Speaker said that the previous government created multiple hindrances for Rescue 1122 and did not create a service structure for employees
Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi lashed out at the government over non-implementation of the Rescue 1122 Act to end miseries of the rescue workers who worked on the frontline during the coronavirus outbreak in the province which reported the highest number of cases.
The speaker made revelations regarding the service that he launched back in 2006 under Punjab Emergency Service Act when he was the chief minister.
He recalled that Rescue 1122 had been the only social welfare organization in Punjab, whose staff was serving the masses round the clock during difficult times of pandemic.

Moreover, during the assembly session, Elahi said that the previous government created multiple hindrances for the rescue service which included non-creation of a service structure for employees.
He professed of being doomed to failure in resolving the problems of the service launched by him.
Pervaiz Elahi hailed the services of Rescue 1122 Head Dr Rizwan Naseer who excellently managed the operations during the pandemic by providing timely medical aid to the infected patients.
Last year, Elahi had requested Punjab government to establish 70 new stations of Rescue 1122 by recruiting 250 new ambulances.
Elahi’s request was endorsed by Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja who then ordered to set up emergency services board and amending the emergency Act for transferring some powers from council to the board.
However, none of the orders were implemented and the speaker is anxious about the current status of the flagship rescue service.
Elahi harked back to the tenure of Shahbaz Sharif, who served as Punjab chief minister for a decade but couldn’t implement any legislation to upgrade the institution.
Hopping mad on the prevailing condition of Rescue 1122, Pervaiz Elahi confirmed that the matter of implementation of the Act has been referred to the committee that has scheduled a meeting on his directions.
