PM Shehbaz audio leak: ‘Hacker’ exposes Rana Sanaullah’s claims regarding suspects

'Hacker' exposed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah's claims as one more audio conversation of PM Shehbaz Sharif was posted online yesterday.

The ‘hacker’ has exposed the claims of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah regarding the ‘identification’ of the suspects behind the alleged audio leaks from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as one more audio conversation was posted online yesterday.

In the latest audio leak, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was talking to an unknown person and was discussing the appointment of special assistants, whereas, the person on the other side was asking for Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) share in the top government positions besides talking about the demands of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Prior to the latest audio leak of PM Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah claimed that those involved in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) audio leaks were identified and that no hostile intelligence agency was involved.

Rana Sanaullah made claims about the identification of the suspects who were involved in PMO audio leaks just after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former premier Imran Khan announced to approach the court over the issue and seek formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe which “intelligence agency” was involved in the bugging of the Prime Minister House.

In a TV show, the controversy was resolved, adding that there was no proof of the involvement of a foreign spy agency in the episode. “Some staff members of the PM’s House have been identified… such things are done for money,” the interior minister added.

According to Mr Sanaullah, the probe would continue. He added that there was no harm in making the report of this investigation public, but a final decision in this regard will depend on PM Shehbaz Sharif, the federal cabinet, and the National Security Committee (NSC).

Though Mr Sanaullah confirmed the involvement of some individuals in the leaks, he did not confirm whether any arrests had been made. Earlier in the day, media reports claimed that two suspects had been taken into custody over their involvement in the leaked clips.

Analysts said that regardless of what Shehbaz Sharif was telling saying in the audio leak and whether the audio was edited or not, Sanaullah should be questioned about his claims for identifying the suspects behind the audio leaks.

They said that the authorities must have located the culprits and the alleged hackers who are leaking the audio clips to social media. They added that the interior minister had claimed that no security agency was involved then there would be a local network of hackers that could be traced and arrested at the earliest to stop the leaking of the sensitive conversations of the PMO.
