PML-N forced to fight for survival due to Zardari, Fazl, power centre

PML-N has been pushed into a fight for its survival due to power centre, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has been pushed into a fight for its survival following a political strategy of power centre, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

PML-N has recently added another defeat on the political front on its record book after failing to remove Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi – a strong ally of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) – through the no-trust move and then the vote of confidence despite having influential positions in the Centre. CM Pervaiz Elahi managed to obtain 186 votes from the PA lawmakers.

The ruling political party has left no stone unturned for hitting the popularity wave of Imran Khan, PTI and its allies, however, all efforts went in vain but it resulting in disastrous political outcomes for PML-N itself.

According to the media reports, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, senior vice president of PML-N got furious over provincial leadership, reported ARY News.

Nawaz Sharif has summoned a report over the failure of the PML-N Punjab in barring Parvez Elahi from getting the house’s vote of confidence. Party was told that at least seven Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs were in contact with the PML-N.

Meanwhile, PML-N Punjab president and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in his initial report on the matter recommended the immediate return of Maryam Nawaz to Pakistan.

PML-N will suffer ‘damages’ if Maryam Nawaz does not return to Pakistan immediately, the party leaders asked the supremo.

It was also reported that Maryam Nawaz is expected to return to the country in a few days. However, the date of Nawaz Sharif’s return is still due to be announced.

It is pertinent to mention here that Maryam Nawaz had been recently elevated from vice-president to senior vice-president of PML-N by the party president Shehbaz Sharif, besides she was given full powers to re-organise the political party at all functional tiers as chief organiser.

Analysts said that PML-N suffered a political loss in its stronghold Punjab due to Asif Ali Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the power centre who motivated PML-N leaders to rule the country.
