PML-N Continues to Face Strokes of Bad Luck

PML-N stroke bad luck

The Nation

The rough week continues for Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) as it faced strokes of bad luck in the form of losing two elections and contraction of covid-19 by Vice-President Maryam Nawaz.

After losing massively in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) polls, PML-N faced a setback after getting defeated by its rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Sialkot PP-38 by-poll on Wednesday.

The space for a new election was created after the demise of PML-N’s Akhtar Subhani.

PTI candidate Ahsan Saleem Baryar won by a margin of over 7,000 votes from PML-N candidate Chaudhry Tariq Subhani, the kin of the deceased MPA.

The victor bagged more than 60,500 while his opponent got around 53,470 votes.

Another hiccup on the same day for the party’s stalwarts was when they learned that their Vice President Maryam Nawaz had contracted covid-19.

PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb took to her Twitter account and confirmed that Maryam Nawaz returned positive. The vice-president has quarantined herself, she added.

On Sunday, the results of the AJK elections sprung a surprise for PML-N and it could only win 6 seats which ended its government in the region.

After successive blows, the opponents of the political party are commenting that the anti-establishment rhetoric of PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif is no more saleable and the masses have started rejecting it.
