PML-N, PDM parties launch social media campaign to malign SC
THe ruling PML-N, PPP and PDM parties have launched a malicious social media campaign against the SC.
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and other parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) have launched a malicious social media campaign against the Supreme Court (SC) after its verdict against the ruling of the deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
Some journalists shared clues about the involvement of the social media teams of the PML-N, PPP and PDM parties in the malicious campaign against the judiciary. The creators of the malign campaign online were found connected with the PML-N social media teams which were followed by the party’s vice-president Maryam Nawaz and other leaders.
Besides other Twitter trends, the organised social media campaign targeted Justice Ijazul Ahsan of the Supreme Court (SC) besides maligning the judiciary in general against its verdict against the PA deputy speaker’s ruling which helped Hamza Shahbaz’s election as the Punjab chief minister (CM) again.
Over 11,000 tweets were posted by more than 500 Twitter accounts to malign the SC judges.
The development came after the top court curtailed the powers of Punjab CM Hamza Shehbaz as a trustee chief minister as the SC Lahore Registry will resume the hearing of a petition against the PA deputy speaker’s ruling on Monday after giving an interim verdict.
The investigative journalist of ARY News, Arshad Sharif said in a Twitter message that the information ministry and the digital media company were facing a lot of troubles right now. He added that startling revelations are expected regarding the government’s footprints in the malicious campaign against the SC judges if they are summoned by the top court.

He alleged that the digital media agencies revealed in a WhatsApp group linked to the concerned ministry that Gharida Farooqi was also involved. He questioned whether Gharida Farooqi was promoting immoral trends against the judiciary after charging money.

Moeed Pirzada said that it seems that elections were not held in Punjab or the election process was led by the Supreme Court (SC) after witnessing the PML-N and PDM’s moves to pressurise the judiciary just to make Mazari-Zardari conspiracy.

He said in another tweet that the propanda [social media malicious campaign] was creating an impression that the real battle was continued in the SC after the defeat of the PML-N in elections and the court was creating hurdles for Hamza Shahbaz. Pirzada added that the court was just scrutinising the alleged fraud of PA deputy speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari and PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari.
