KARACHI: Karachi police department has failed to recover the allegedly abducted a 14-year-old girl Dua Zehra after seven days of giving useless clues and a sort of victim blaming.

The worst example of victim-blaming was set by the police department instead of expediting efforts for the immediate recovery of the missing Dua Zehra.

At first, the police department did not register the case for three days and then showed negligence to expand the scope of the investigation into the Dua Zehra disappearance case.

Secondly, a wrong CCTV footage another girl was given to establish the missing girl went outside the residence of her own will. Later, the police started victim-blaming by saying that the girl was not going to school for several years.

Police investigators later said that they found internet history of court marriage and will marriage from the devices at her residence and later the rumours were spread about her secret marriage with the son of a feudal in Sanghar.

During these episodes, the police force failed to recover Zehra as yet.

Yesterday, a cybercrime cell team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) visited Dua Zehra’s home and questioned her family.

According to the FIA cybercrime cell’s provincial head Imran Riaz, a four-member team including a forensic expert, technical analyst, a female investigation officer and a female psychologist visited the house of Dua Zehra Kazmi and an emergency contact made with Google, Samsung and online gaming platform.

Prominent personalities and other nationals have shown solidarity with Dua Zehra’s father and demanded the authorities immediately recover the missing girl.

14-year-old Dua Zahra, who was allegedly abducted from Malir’s Al-Falah area of ​​Karachi, could not be recovered even after 6 days. Police found important evidence from the CCTV footage outside her residence.

Zehra’s father claimed that the girl who is appearing in CCTV footage was not her daughter. He added that Dua has gone missing in the daylight but the footage showed the nighttime happening.

Police said that when the footage was shown to the neighbours, they confirmed that the girl was Dua.

Moreover, the father of the girl also made a contradictory statement regarding his daughter’s academic details as he claimed that Dua Zehra was a class 7 student. On the other hand, the probers found that she did not go to school since class 3.

The investigators also claimed that information was also collected from a private school’s principal and her fellow students. Moreover, important evidence was collected from the internet device of Zehra’s residence. Police claimed that the search history related to court marriage and marriage of choice was traced.

According to Geo News, a team comprising intelligence agencies and Karachi Police led by DSP Shaukat Shahani cordoned off Zahid Town and Rajput Colony of Sanghar and conducted a search operation that continued for several hours besides searching suspected houses.

However, the media was not briefed about the outcome of the search operation. Some locals claimed that the abducted girl had been rescued. It is being said that a son of a feudal in the Sanghar district who allegedly kept her inside a house after tying the knot with her.

Dua Zahra’s parents, while talking to ARY Digital’s Shan-e-Ramazan program yesterday, shared details about the alleged abduction of Dua Zahra. The girl’s father told the host that they received kidnappers’ messages via WhatsApp and they were demanded ransom for releasing Zehra.

Dua’s father claimed that she went to throw out the garbage at 12:30 pm and she did not return. “We went to the police to report her disappearance but the police did nothing for three days until we contacted JDC.”

JDC head Zafar Abbas claimed that Dua Zehra’s father was demanded ransom and threatened for selling her daughter in case of non-payment of the ransom money.

The mother of the girl said that they kept looking for her like crazy but did not find her anywhere. Today, six days later, they do not know anything about the girl, they do not know in what condition my daughter will be.

“We have no enmity with anyone. I want my daughter alive, not dead like Zainab. I appeal to the higher authorities to recover Dua as soon as possible,” she said.

According to investigators, the phone calls for ransom were fake. The suspected messengers were arrested by the police who revealed that they sent the message for fun.
