After upsetting defeat in the Senate chairman election, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is not left with many choices than to actively participate in the long march on Islamabad by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
In a bid to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan, PPP wanted to be on the track of democratic actions unlike other major partners in 11-party alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
PPP was the first party to announce taking part in Senate election as it believed in the democratic process to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan despite all reservations.
Executing the same mindset, PPP was the first in the PDM to publicize that it would contest in by-elections too.
Its confidence went sky-high when Yousaf Raza Gillani of PPP was nominated as the joint candidate of PDM and he won election on Islamabad seat in crucial Senate election.’
However, the tables turned and Gillani lost poll of Senate chairman despite having edge over his opponent Sadiq Sanjrani.
After shocking defeat, PML-N’s leader Talal Chaudhry tweeted for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He asked if he enjoyed ‘neutral’.

This was in response to PPP’s claims before Senate chairman election that agencies seemed neutral instead of siding with any party. But, PPP’s Gillani lost dramatically as eight votes got rejected and Sanjrani secured the top slot in the upper house.

Although the second-largest political party in the Senate has announced to reach the court to challenge the result, it has weakened its case of ousting government through democratic procedure instead of pursuing pressure tactics.
With no extra options left, it seems like PPP will have no option other than to actively participate in the long march of PDM for which it had earlier looked reluctant.
