PPP long march not aiming to oust PM Imran Khan: sources

The long march of PPP is not aiming to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan from his position nor topple the PTI government.

The long march of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is not aiming to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan from his position nor toppling the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, PPP leaders told News360.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led PPP has started its long march towards the federal capital Islamabad with a slogan to topple the PTI government besides pressurising the premier to leave his position before being removed by force through a no-confidence motion.

Some PPP leaders told News360 on the condition of anonymity that the aim of the ongoing long march was not to oust PM Imran Khan nor topple the PTI government. They said that the central leadership of the political party was also not willing to convert the long march into a sit-in in Islamabad.

No-confidence motion, long march: PM Imran Khan decides meeting Jahangir Tareen

They detailed, “The reason for this long march is activating PPP’s machinery across the country. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is touring PPP strongholds and other parts of the country to activate the party machinery.”

“It is actually a warm-up activity for PPP before the upcoming local government (LG) polls in Punjab, Sindh and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces, as well as Islamabad. Through this long, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will meet grass-roots level leadership in the electoral centres before the upcoming LG polls.”

They added that PPP is not eyeing some short-term results from its long march but to bear its fruits in the upcoming LG polls and the tough contest in the 2023 general elections.

Opposition reluctant to bring no-confidence motion against PTI govt

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has begun its long march against the federal government while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) commenced its long march against the PPP-led Sindh government, turning the Sindh in the centre of national politics.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had started a long march, Huqooq-i-Sindh March, from Ghotki to Karachi on Saturday.

On the other hand, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had started a long march towards Islamabad on Sunday (yesterday).
