PPP MNA Shagufta Jumani booked for slapping PTI lawmaker Ghazala Saifi in NA scuffle
Shagufta Jumani and Ghazala Saifi had exchanged harsh words during the NA session and later Jumani slapped Saifi for resisting the opposition’s protest before the speaker’s dice.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly Ghazala Saifi has registered an First Investigation Report (FIR) against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Shagufta Jumani for slapping and injuring her hand during a scuffle in the National Assembly session yesterday.
Yesterday, PTI and PPP MNAs, Shagufta Jumani and Ghazala Saifi, had exchanged harsh words during the NA session and later Jumani slapped Saifi for resisting the opposition’s protest before the speaker’s dice.
Shagufta Jumani had alleged that she pushed Saifi after she tore her anti-government placard in the National Assembly. She added that Ghazala Saifi had torn her placard and later tried to push her back which she responded to in the same way.

On the other hand, Saifi claimed that Jumani attacked her which led to an injury to her right hand and she later registered an FIR against her.
She detailed that Jumani had been hurling abusive remarks against the government legislators and the PPP female lawmaker slapped her when she took the placard from her.
The incident took place when the opposition lawmakers attempted to reach the speaker’s dice to interrupt the assembly’s proceedings and they were resisted by the treasury legislators.
The NA session had been marred with disturbance and chaos due to the strong protest of the opposition lawmakers when the finance minister tabled the Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021, mini-budget yesterday. However, the top opposition leaders played truant after making tall claims to defend the nationals’ rights.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, former president and Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari did not show up to the important session.

Federal Minister Shaukat Tarin had presented the Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021 amid uproar from the opposition lawmakers which is necessary legislation to receive another $1 billion tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during the sixth review of the $6 billion Extended Fund Facility.
Other than the finance amendment bill, the ordinances that have been extended include the Federal Government Properties Management Authority Ordinance, 2021, Elections (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2021, Public Properties (Removal of Encroachment) Ordinance, 2021, Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021, Pakistan Food Security Flow and Information Ordinance, 2021 and Tax Laws (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2021.
