PPP, MQM-P run away from polls: Karachi, Hyd LG polls postponed again
PPP and MQM-Pakistan ran away again and postponed local government (LG) elections in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu were postponed for the fourth time.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) ran away again as local body elections in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu were postponed for the fourth time.
After the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) raised objections to the delimitation of constituencies and called for protests, the Sindh government late at night announced the postponement of local body elections on January 15 in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu.
After the Sindh Cabinet gave its approval to withdraw the notification of constituencies, the Local Government Department wrote a letter to the Election Commission.
In the letter written by the Sindh Local Government Department, it has been stated that the Sindh Cabinet has abolished the constituencies under Section 10A.
The local government department wrote that municipal elections should not be held in Karachi and Hyderabad and the sub-committee of the Sindh Cabinet will issue a notification of new constituencies.
The Sindh department said that elections will be held in the respective districts under new constituencies. Dadu district is still affected by rain and flood water. LG elections in Mehar Tehsil and Khairpur Nathan Shah Tehsil of Dadu should be postponed.
Meanwhile, talking to the media after the consultative meeting of the Sindh Chief Minister and some other ministers regarding the local body elections under the chairmanship of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, the Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the Sindh government has withdrawn the notification related to the delimitation of Karachi constituencies. took
Sharjeel Memon said that important decisions have been taken in the meeting, there was a detailed discussion about the law and order situation in Sindh and local body elections.
He said that MQM has reservations about delimitation and wants the demands of allies to be taken seriously.
He said that the municipal elections of January 15 in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu are being postponed, but the elections in all the other districts of Sindh will be held as usual.
After the Sindh government’s announcement of postponing the local body elections, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said in his statement that in the darkness of the night, PPP and MQM killed Karachi and Hyderabad.
He said that the workers should be ready at 10 am, they will announce the plan of action, they will protest, they will also go to the court and the Election Commission.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Zaidi, while reacting to the postponement of the local body elections, has said that this step has been taken due to the fear of defeat by the PTI.
PTI leader Ali Zaidi said that PPP and MQM once again ran away from the local body elections. He said that after consulting the party leadership, a protest call will be given on Saturday.
